Coastal Group of Companies, formally Coastal Bridge & Construction Ltd is a full service forestry support operation, from logging its self, to road building, bridge building and maintenance to site remediation after logging is complete.

We also provide log hauling - highway and off-highway, equipment lowbed moves and equipment rentals.
In addition to forestry work we also provide site excavation and preparation, crane services, custom aluminum ramp fabrication, dock building and installation, tug boat, barge & piledriving services
We have a Woodmizer sawmill and are able to make timbers up to 24" x 24" x 44ft long! We specialize in making bridge timbers but take custom orders for lumber from red cedar, yellow cedar and fir.

Who We Are

Chris Dods started Coastal Bridge & Construction Ltd. in 2008 after a forestry contractor in the Alberni Valley ceased operations. He saw a opening that needed filling in this industry and decided to purchase his first piece of equipment.
Chris is a ticketed bridgeman with 30+ years of experience, including equipment operating and truck driving.
His company started with one excavator, one truck and 2 employees with his office located in a trailer parked in his driveway.
Fast forward to 2025 where Coastal Bridge now has 40+ employees, several with 10+ years of experience! The crew is made up of equipment operators, truck drivers, log truck drivers, carpenters, welders, shop mechanics and sawmill operators. The company also a full fleet of excavators, dump trucks, tractor, trailers and lowbeds.
